Less complicated exercise for a less complicated life.

I currently have several friends and family members going through early postpartum so I’ve been reflecting a lot on my older child’s birth.

His birth was a whirlwind. A planned home birth turned hospital induction at 37.5 weeks.

I arrived at the hospital on a Wednesday morning and L was born nearly 3 days later, very early on Saturday morning.

And I used every ounce of strength, tenacity and grit I had in those 3 days.

This is one of the reasons I love movement (and specifically strength training) so much. It helps me live my life and do all the things.

  • Give birth.

  • Carry a heavy car seat.

  • Rock my baby for what feels like hours.

  • Play on the playground with my big kid while carrying my little kid.

  • Haul in the Costco run.

  • Put a suitcase above my seat on an airplane.

  • Rearrange furniture on a whim.

And the list goes on.

Movement is a tool that I use to make my life easier.

Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated- we can use the basic principles to get stronger, move freely and breathe easier.

Our lives can be made less complicated by less complicated movement.

And there’s nothing wrong with complicated or more time intensive exercise, but I know a lot of us are looking for more ease in our lives. Less on the to-do list. Less clutter taking up space in our brain.

So why add one more thing?
