This is even more important than exercise consistency.

When it comes to exercise and health, consistency is key.

Yes. Absolutely.

I’m feeling the rewards of that at 1 year postpartum. My short home workouts are snowballing and I can feel that I’m getting stronger and more “in my body” than a few months ago.

And.

While consistency is important, I’d argue that showing back up, after every break in an exercise routine, is even more important.

Because life is 1000% going to get in the way of our exercise routines here and there. Other areas of our lives are going to take priority at times.

Make it stand out

I’m totally experiencing this right now in both my exercise and work schedule. Appointments, snow days, family members having (planned) hospital stays, a sick partner- all of these things are taking priority this week over my preferred schedule.

And that’s ok. It’s not perfect, but it’s ok. Next week, I’ll get back into my groove.

If I was completely set on always meeting these benchmarks with my workouts and work time, this week would be much more stressful and probably throw me out of my routine even longer.

And that’s because an all or nothing mindset around exercise adherence isn’t going to benefit us when we have responsibilities such as children, work, caretaking, financial stress, illness- the list goes on.

We're never going to hit 100% on our preferred number of exercise sessions every. single. week- that's just impossible. We are consistently going to be inconsistent. 😅

The more flexible we can be with our adherence to exercise, the better.
